Standard ATS: a single-column resume template
Standard ATS puts your resume in one column with familiar headings. It is a practical starting point when you want work history, projects and skills presented in a clear sequence. The name does not guarantee a result in any employer’s screening system.
What the template includes
- Name and contact information at the top.
- A professional summary, followed by experience, projects, education and skills when supplied.
- Employer, job title and employment dates for each role.
- Achievement bullets and clear section dividers.
- A4 pagination when the content needs more than one page.
A fictional example of a useful bullet
“Built keyboard-accessible form components in React and documented their behavior for the engineering team.”
This explains an action, a tool and a contribution. Use it as a pattern, not as a claim to copy unless it describes your work. Add a result or measurement only if you can support it.
Check the exported document
- Follow the employer’s requested file format.
- Save as PDF using the browser print dialog after choosing a paid plan.
- Open the PDF and inspect every page for clipped lines, blank pages and confusing breaks.
- Copy the text into a plain text editor and check the order of employer names, roles, dates and bullets.
- If an application form extracts your details, review them before submitting.
Text extraction is a useful check, not a test of every ATS. We do not publish a universal pass-rate percentage.
What to write next
Use the job-tailoring guide to select relevant details, or the no-experience guide to turn projects and education into useful evidence. Compare the other layouts before you export.
